Rick's travel tips: If you are going to Mt. Rushmore on the 4th of July, get your reservations way in advance. We ended up finding one room at an Econo Lodge in Wall, SD., 50 miles east of Mt. Rushmore.
Today we traveled through MT, WY and SD. It's kinda of like driving through the desert but everything is green instead of brown. It's flat.

Rowlan, the trip mascot, in his "sexy" pose.

Believe it or not, our first hint of rain, same place the Custer had his last stand, Little Big Horn, WY.

Some excitement at lunch, someone was shooting off fireworks at the rest stop and caused a small brush fire, we used our cell phones to call 911.

This one is for our neighbors. They will understand.

South Dakota!

OK, we cheated, ran across the street and got our picture under the Wyoming sign.

The beautiful wide open skies of South Dakota.

Doesn't this just make you want to tie your horse up at the saloon?

OK, well maybe in black and white.

Crazy Horse, they have been working on this since 1947.

Getting close to Mt. Rushmore

There it is.

Security was heavy at Mt. Rushmore. There were bomb sniffing dogs...

And military guys, checking the underside of the car.

Good news is, Mt. Rushmore is safe.

even in black and white.

Ahh, a trip to remember.
